‘Bangabandhu always fought for people’s rights’

Bangladesh Online Activist Forum organised a discussion on the Father of the Nation’s 99th birth anniversary titled 'Bangabandhu with movement and struggle' at the National Press Club

Bangabandhu was not only the leader of oppressed people of Bangladesh, his revolutionary message was spread everywhere, said speakers at a program.

They said: “Bangabandhu always fought for people's’ rights.”

They made the observation at a discussion on the Father of the Nation’s 99th birth anniversary titled “Bangabandhu with movement and struggle”  organized by the Bangladesh Online Activist Forum (BOAF) at the National Press Club on Monday.

Eminent columnist Syed Abul Maksud said: “Bangabandhu has struggled most of his life – from his teenage till his death.

“If he had not, this country would have never been freed or gained independence.”

He added: “There was such humanity in Bangabandhu - which is difficult to express in words. He always asked after the family and friends of the people around him.

“If Bangabandhu had not been in the movement, this country would never been free. It is a duty of the Bengali nation to obey his ideology and build this country according to his dream.”

Member of the drafting committee of Bangladesh Constitution 1972, Barrister Amir-ul Islam said: "Bangabandhu’s political strategy was extraordinary and humanity was the most important issue to him. He was also jailed for his humanity and kept leading the country through the power of his humanity.

“Because of Bangabandhu’s three qualities - equality, human dignity and social justice, he gained wide recognition and respect from everyone and that carved out his place in politics,” he added.

BOAF President Kabir Chowdhury Tonmoy presided over the program where political analyst and columnist Bakhtiar Uddin Chowdhury, Golam Kuddus, president of Sammilita Sangskritik Jote, Shyamal Dutta editor of Bhorer Kagoj also spoke among others.
