DNCC set to carry out crash programs to eradicate mosquitoes

DNCC Mayor Atiqul asks for all-out support to DNCC workers in this regard

The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will launch crash programs for mosquito eradication and cleanliness in the city, DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said on Friday.

“We will launch crash programs for mosquito eradication from the city and clean up the drainage system for the coming rainy season. Concerned authorities and councillors will try their level best to combat the mosquito menace,” he said while speaking at a discussion titled “Mosquito Eradication and Cleanliness Programs” at the DNCC market in the city’s Mohakhali area.

Regarding mosquito eradication, the mayor also said: “We will provide all-out support to DNCC workers in this regard as we understand the difficulties of the workers, but they (the workers) have to discharge their duties with the utmost sincerity.”

Warning officials and employees of the DNCC, he said: “I will undertake surprise visits. At that time, immediate action will be taken against anyone found to be negligent in their responsibilities.”

DNCC Chief Executive Officer Abdul Hye, Secretary Rabindra Sri Barua, Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Zakir Hossain, ward councillors, and concerned workers of “Mosquito Control and Clean” project were present on the occasion, among others.
