One person was critically injured in one of the accidents
Three people have been killed, and one has been critically injured, in separate road accidents across Dhaka.
A transportation worker named Abdur Rahman, 40, was killed after being hit by a truck in Bangshal area of the capital.
The incident occurred in Alu Bazar area around 4:15am on Wednesday.
A truck hit Abdur while he was unloading a covered van. The van's driver, Mozammel, took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the doctors on duty declared him dead on arrival around 5:30am.
In a separate incident, locals found a toppled-over pickup truck, in the Amin Bazar area of Dhaka, around midnight. The critically-injured truck driver, Moinuddin, 30, was rescued by the locals and taken to DMCH for treatment.
Doctors pronounced Moinuddin dead around 5:15am.
Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, DMCH police checkpost in-charge Md Bachchu Mia said both bodies are being kept at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
Meanwhile, the driver of a private car lost control of the steering, near the Basundhara R/A gate, and hit an electric pole on the divider. The driver, Shakib Chowdhury Turjo, 23, and his cousin, Fardin Khan Rongon, 24, were both critically injured. The vehicle was also severely damaged by the impact.
The duo was taken to Apollo Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared Turjo dead on arrival. The victim was a student of North South University. Rongon is still in critical condition.
Gulshan police station Sub-Inspector Al Helal confirmed the matter saying: “Turjo’s older brother was getting married on Wednesday. So, he and his cousin took the car out to deliver some clothes for the upcoming marriage ceremony.
“He lost control of the car near the Basundhara R/A area. The victim was a resident of Nayapaltan area.”
