Books worth Tk80 crore have been sold during the month-long fair

The month-long Ekushey Book Fair 2019, an event close to the hearts of book lovers, ended on Saturday.

A total of 4,834 books hit the fair till the last day, including 63, released on Saturday.

Books worth Tk80 crore have been sold during the month-long fair, which has surpassed the previous record of Tk70.5 crore.

This year, the theme was "Victory, from 1952 to 1971."

A total of 770 stalls with 719 publications were displayed at the fair. Covers of a total of 824 books were unveiled in the fair held at the Suhrawardi Udyan "Mulmancha."

Bangla Academy occupied 24 pavilions on the premises of the fair this year and sold books worth Tk2.34 crore.

More than 12,000 members of different security forces were engaged to maintain security at the fair.
