Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) announced on Saturday that they have made the necessary arrangements to enforce a stringent security vigil at the month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair, 2019, set to begin in the capital on January 9, reports BSS.

“We have made a tight and coordinated security arrangement for foolproof security in and around the trade fair venue, deploying a large contingent of police,” DMP Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia said ahead of the fair.

He said that in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, the police would keep an eye on the venue and “everyone will have to pass through metal detectors and archways there.”

The DMP chief said hawkers and beggers would be barred from roaming around the venue which will be under surveillance by closed circuit camera televisions (CCTVs).

He said the DMP would install a makeshift control room, lost and found centre, medical centre, and four help desks to facilitate visitors, while special police teams would be in place to stop ticket black marketing and eve-teasing.

He has warned of taking stern action against food courts not displaying a price list.

The DMP chief requested all people concerned to discharge their professional duties with the utmost sincerity and professionalism.
