3 held for allegedly spreading anti-state rumour on Facebook

The three were nabbed by RAB from Dhaka's Shyamoli area Thursday night

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested three individuals for their alleged involvement in spreading rumours by posting “false, fabricated and provocative” remarks against the government on social networking site Facebook.

The elite law enforcement agency picked the trio up from Dhaka's Shyamoli area Thursday night, reports UNB.

The arrestees are - Wahedun Nabi, 47, from Noakhali, Arafat Hakim alias Apu, 38, from Chuadanga and Mohammad Zabid, 45, from Mirpur in Dhaka.

Tipped off, a team of RAB 2 conducted a drive in the Shyamoli area and arrested them, sources at the RAB headquarters said.

Of the arrestees, Zabid was wanted in separate criminal cases with Jatrabari, Paltan, and Mirpur police stations, RAB sources said.
