Democracy International (DI) will recognize 40 central political leaders of Awami League, BNP, and Jatiya Party (JaPa) for their achievements in championing peaceful and participatory elections at an award ceremony.

The program will be held at the Westin Dhaka on Wednesday.

The event will be a part of DI’s recently launched the Shantite Bijoy (Win with Peace) campaign – meant to engage the major political parties, candidates and voters in Bangladesh and raise awareness of the importance of peaceful elections and tolerant politics. As a part of the campaign, central and grassroots-level party leaders are contributing to a peaceful election across the country.

The event will be conducted under `Strengthening Political Landscape’ (SPL) project co-funded by USAID and UKAid.

HT Imam, adviser to the prime minister and Bangladesh Awami League, Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan, Standing Committee member of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, and Ziauddin Bablu, Presidium member of Jatiya Party will be attending the event on behalf of their respective parties.
