RI District 3281 Bangladesh organized the conference with the theme of ‘Peace Through Cultural Exchange’
Rotary International (RI) Multi District Peace Conference was held at the Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel.
RI District 3281, Bangladesh organized the conference with the theme of “Peace Through Cultural Exchange,” on Saturday.
Past President Rotarian Ibrahim Khalil Al-Zayad Pinak welcomed all the Rotarians and urged them to work together for peace through cultural exchange.
At the program, RI 3281 Chief Adviser Rafique Ahmed Siddique said: “Peace doesn’t mean absence of war. Peace cannot be achieved by making government agreements, treaties and laws or enforcement.
“Peace can only be achieved through good relationships between friends and families by people all around.”
The conference ended with a declaration of peace, which highlighted the common bond that all Rotarians share.
The declaration read: “The Rotary International District 3181-Bangladesh, 3282- Bangladesh and 3291-India recognize that absence of war is not peace. Peace is literacy, clean water, abatement of poverty, reduced child mortality, prevention of diseases and absence of hunger.”
The declaration also pledged to respect each community and culture, promoting international understanding, goodwill and peace, to embrace different communities, to establish borderless global tribes, exchange ideas, to understand each other and celebrate diversity through various peace building cultural exchange programs befitting to the local community.
It further read: “We shall engage other like-minded individuals and organizations including Rotary peace fellows and especially the young people in building skillsneeded to act as leaders and catalysts for peace and conflict resolution both in their local communities and around the globe.”
RI District Governors AFM Alamgir, Dil Nasheen Mohsen and Mukul Sinha, DGE M Khairul Alam, DGN Md Rubayet Hossain, also spoke at the program.
