'We do not want to see any Razakar(an anti-Bangladesh paramilitary force)even in a single constituency in the next election'
Leaders of Sector Commanders Forum (SCF) have urged people to elect those having faith in the Liberation War spirit and those who never give indulgence to the anti-liberation forces.
Sector Commanders Forum (SCF) organized a citizens’ dialogue titled “Muktijuddher Bangladesh and Election 2018” at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Saturday.
Harun Habib, SCF’s secretary general called upon the people to vote for such a person, symbol and slogan that hold the ideology of the Liberation War.
“We do not want to see any Razakar(an anti-Bangladesh paramilitary force)even in a single constituency in the next election.”
‘If we see anti liberation forces taking part in the upcoming election, we will create awareness among people about his identity to refrain them from casting their vote in his favor,’ said Major General (retd) Muhammed Ali Sikder,SCF’sorganizing secretary.
Vice president of the forum Lt Col (retd) Abu Osman Chowdhury,also the chair of dialogue, wondered over the long time taken for the cancellation of Jamaat’s registration.
“I wonder why Jamaat’s registration process took 10 years. Why did not the pro-liberation forces that were in power for last two termscancel Jamaat’s registration?’ he asked, adding that “President Ziaur Rahman’ awarded those who killed Bangabandhu and our four leaders.”
“Even the BNP can also be banned, as it has given priority to anti liberation forces during its regime,” he said.
Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad saidthat pro-liberation people are identified and are in power, they should continue their rule.
They should not be extra confident as it can ruin its belief. It might bring destruction as it has happened in the ’91 and 2001 elections, he warned.
Former vice-chancellor of Jahangirnagar University Prof M Anwar Hossain said, if BNP participates in the ensuing election, there will be a problem, it is an ill sign that Dr Kamal and others has merged with BNP, “he has taken the path of Razakars,” he added.
“We should unite to re-elect PM Sheikh Hasina to keep continuing theprocess of development,” said Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique, former vice-chancellor of Dhaka University (DU).
DU Prof Mesbah Kamal said: “We will observe the role of Dr Kamal Hossain, ASM Abdur Rab, Kader Siddque and Mahmudur Mahman Manna. If they nominate war criminals they must be accountable.”
Hecautioned the Election Commission to make sure that Jamaat people do not take part in the election under the BNP symbol.
Former secretary Dr Khondoker Showkat Hossain, Press Club President Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman, SCF women’s wing President Laila Hasan, SCF Treasurer Dr Monsur Ahmed, former vice president of SCF and Trustee of Liberation War Museum Dr Sarwar Ali, Sommilito Sangskritik Jote President Golam Quddus, and Cultural personality M Hamid,alsospoke at the dialogue.
SCF started a nationwide dialogue on the ensuing election from Chittagong on October 22.They will go on with the dialogue and distribute leaflets relating to the topic in every large city of the country till election period, to make peopleaware to vote for pro-liberation forces.
