Fourteen fire-fighting units put out the flames after an hour
A fire broke out at a multi-storey building in Dhaka’s Shantinagar area on Saturday afternoon.
Fire Service and Civil Defence control room’s duty officer Ataur Rahman said that the flames originated around 4:54pm at the first floor of the Tropical Razia Palace, which houses shops, banks, restaurants and apartments.
Fourteen fire-fighting units rushed there and brought the fire under control at around 6pm, he added.
The flames were completely doused around 6:28pm, said Mahfuz Riben, another control room duty officer.
He said the fire started from an electric short circuit and three shops were gutted.
He also added that no casualty was reported in the incident.
