Children and grandchildren of freedom fighters have demanded the reinstatement of 30% quota privilege for them in government jobs.

They made the demand at a rally held at the Central Shaheed Minar under the banner of “Muktijuddha Mancha” yesterday, reports UNB.

Spokesperson of the platform and Dhaka University (DU) Sociology department teacher Prof AKM Jamal Uddin said, "We had never thought that such kind of gazette could be published. We think the decision scrapping the freedom fighters' quota was a conspiracy of the anti-liberation war forces."

Rejecting the gazette notification which abolished the quota system for the first class and second class jobs in public service, he blamed a vested quarter who is against the Liberation War spirit for it.

The demonstrators also vowed to go on tougher movements if their demand is not met.

They announced the holding of a rally and taking position at Shahbagh on Thursday (October 25) and give a memorandum to the prime minister on October 30.
