Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a suspected member of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in Dhaka.

Nur Alam, 31, was arrested from 300-feet road area around 6:45pm on Friday.

Commanding Officer (CO) of RAB 1 Lieutenant Col Sarwar Bin Kashem told the Dhaka Tribune: "Acting on a tip-off, we conducted a drive in the western side of Boala bridge in Narayanganj and arrested Nur.

“By the time we reached the spot, Nur’s associates had already fled the scene.”

He said Nur was an active member of JMB and he used to attend meets of the militant group along with some other members.

The RAB officer said Nur went to Bogra, Jamalpur, Kurigram and Patgram areas to invite people to join the militant group.

He said RAB also seized some jihadi books from his possession.

"Legal actions will be taken against him," Sarwar added.
