The updates will be available every four hours
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has announced that they will post traffic updates on their Facebook page every four hours during Eid-ul-Azha, in order to help people travelling home for the holidays.
“From today, we will provide traffic updates on our page,” RAB Director General (DG) Benazir Ahmed told a media briefing at RAB headquarters in Karwan Bazar on Saturday.
“We think if you look go through our traffic updates then it will be helpful for you,” he added.
The RAB chief said: “All RAB battalions will provide traffic updates for their respective areas on their Facebook pages, and we will also provide traffic updates from the headquarters.”
According to the RAB DG, there is a significant increase in road accidents on highways during the Eid holidays, due to high traffic on the roads as people return to their home districts. In addition, assistants drive the bus instead of drivers during the period.
“To reduce road accidents, we will introduce RAB check posts from morning till evening at important points of highways for three days from August 23 to 25. They will work in coordination with highway and local police,” he said.
The RAB chief urged vehicle owners not to give their buses or trucks to assistants, to keep all related documents, and not to travel with unfit vehicles.
