AL audit report reveals massive increases in income, expenditure in 2017

According to the Awami League office secretary, the party earned Tk20.25 crore and spent Tk13.63 crore in 2017

Awami League Office Secretary Abdus Subhan Golap has said the party’s annual audit report shows massive increases in both income and expenditure in 2017.

The Awami League leader told reporters of the development when exiting the Election Commission Secretariat, after submitting the audit report for 2017 to Election Commission Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed on Tuesday. Awami League Information and Research Secretary Afjal Hossain, and Science and Technology Affairs Secretary Abdur Sobur were also present.

According to the Awami League office secretary, the party earned Tk20.25 crore and spent Tk13.63 crore in 2017, amounting to a surplus of Tk6.61 crore in the Awami League fund.

In 2016, the party earned Tk4.84 core and spent Tk3.2 crore.

The main sources of the income this year were donations for the construction of the new party office, annual collection from party members, and interest on money in the bank, he said.

On the other hand, the main sources of expenditure were the construction of the new party office, salary bonuses for employees, meeting and seminar expenses, and utility bills.

Golap added that Tk10 crore had been donated for the construction of the new party office, and the same amount was spent on the construction.
