Police were unable to say if anyone was arrested or detained
Police have carried out a block raid in Dhaka's Bashundhara Residential Area.
A huge number of Dhaka Metropolitan Police members and Detective Branch (DB) were deployed in the area on Wednesday night.
Over 100 policemen and DB members divided into groups began raiding the houses in the residential area around 10pm.
At 11pm, the raid was still underway.
Many students of North South and Independent University live inside Bashundhara R/A in messes, as most of them are from outside Dhaka. A large number of students took part in protests for road safety on Monday and clashed with police.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman has confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “This raid is a part of the routine police work.”
However, he failed to come up with any specific number for how many were arrested.
