Former adviser to the caretaker government Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman made the recommendation while addressing a press conference in Dhaka
Students can be provided with the opportunity to work jointly with the police to bring discipline to the road and transport situation, said former adviser to the caretaker government Dr Hossain Zillur Rahman.
The students, with support from the police, can check the fitness of vehicles and licenses of the drivers to bring discipline, recommended Zillur, also convener of the Safe Road and Transport Alliance (Srota).
He made the recommendation while addressing a press conference on “National concern on road safety & draft Road Transport Act,” organised by Srota in Dhaka.
He also demanded to change the name of the much talked-about “Road Transport (draft) Act 2018” to “Road Transport and Road Security Act”, which is likely to be placed before the cabinet on Monday.
Srota also shared other recommendations on the proposed law and also on management and monitoring priorities for responsible and effective road governance in keeping with nationwide demands.
