The event focused on ways to cultivate the 5G ecosystem and use it to boost the ongoing economic transformation of the country
The Prime Minister’s ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy has said Awami League will ensure full 5G coverage throughout Bangladesh, if the party gets re-elected in the upcoming 11th General Election.
He made the comment while inaugurating an event demonstrating the trial run of 5G technology, held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, in Dhaka, on Wednesday.
The event was organized by telecommunications equipment company Huawei, and mobile phone service provider Robi—with the support of the ICT Division under the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology.
Addressing the program, Joy further said: “If the Awami League is re-elected, Bangladesh will be among the countries which are at the forefront of 5G technology.”
The event focused on brainstorming ways to cultivate the 5G ecosystem in a digital Bangladesh, and figuring out methods to use 5G to boost the ongoing economic transformation of the country.
Present at the program, Telecom and ICT Minister Mustafa Jabbar thanked the mobile phone service providers for extending the reach of 4G technology to the upazila level across Bangladesh.
He also lauded Robi for its 4G coverage in rural areas—and directed other telecom service providers to step up their coverage in every corner of the country.
State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak, Robi Axiata CEO Mahtab Uddin Ahmed, and senior Huawei officials were present at the event—among many others.
