A bus knocked down Md Nazim Uddin's motorcycle and ran over him on the Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover

Senior Executive of the Dhaka Tribune’s Advertisement Department Md Nazim Uddin has been killed in a road accident in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area.

A bus knocked down his motorcycle and ran him over on the Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover around 9:45am on Thursday.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where the doctor declared him dead around 10:10am, said DMCH police outpost's In-Charge Sub-Inspector Bachchu Mia.

Nazim, 37, left behind his wife Sabrina Yasmin Irene and two daughters, Nusrat Jahan Mun, 9, and newborn Ishrat Jahan Noor.

Police later impounded two buses involved in the incident that led to Nazim's death. One each of the staff of both buses were also detained.

Nazim, originally from Bhola, was the fourth among four sisters and three brothers. His father's name is Anisul Haque. He lived with his family in a flat at Faridabad in Dhaka's Shyampur.

His home village was Balurchar in Bhola's Lalmohan.

Nazim was the secretary general of Lalmohan Foundation Dhaka, a social welfare organization formed by people from Lalmohan thana. The foundation undertook regular social work, including delivering aid to the Rohingya refugees.

Nazim's second daughter Ishrat was born four days ago. His wife Sabrina is in postpartum care and he had gone to Ad-Din Hospital to visit his family before heading to work.

Nazim’s first namaz-e-janaza was held at the Dhaka University Central Mosque Thursday afternoon and he will be buried in his village graveyard after another janaza there.
