Mostafizur Rahman, 54, was walking near Rabindra Sarobar when a tree collapsed on him around 10am on Friday, killing him on the spot.
In an unfortunate turn of events, a middle-aged man was killed at Rabindra Sarobar in Dhanmondi, Dhaka Friday morning as a tree collapsed on top of him.
Mostafizur Rahman, 54, an engineer of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), was walking near Rabindra Sarobar when the tree fell on him around 10am on Friday, said Additional Commissioner Ahsan Habib of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Dhanmondi Zone.
Mostafiz was killed on the spot, he added.
His body was brought in to Dhanmondi police station and his family was contacted, said Sub-Inspector Khairul.
When contacted, Khandakar Millatul Islam, additional chief waste management officer of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), said a team from the city corporation had been dispatched immediately after they received word about the incident.
“Our team and a team of the Fire Service worked together to move the fallen tree out of the way,” he added.
