Police have arrested four people in a case filed over an attack on the residence of Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman on April 9.
They are Md Rakibul Hasan, 26, Md Masud Alam, 25, Md Ali Hossain Sheikh, 28, and Ali Sayeed Fazle Rabbi alias Siam, 20.
The four were arrested from the city's Chankharpool area around 1pm on Sunday, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner (DC) Masudur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune.

Two mobile phones, which were stolen during the attack on the DU VC's home, were also recovered from the four arrestees, he said.
Later in the day, DC Masudur said, a Dhaka court sent one of them into a four-day police remand, another four two days and the other two for three days each.
None of them are students of Dhaka University, he added.
Masud was a student of Dhaka Alia Madrasa, while the other trio are not students of any educational institution, according to police.

However, police said, Rakibul was accused in at least five cases filed with different police stations in Barishal and Lakshmipur.
Entering the DU VC's residence on the night of April 9, some unidentified masked people carried out vandalism and mayhem inside the house and looted valuables.
The attackers also set fire to two cars parked in front of the residence.

The incident had taken place amid clashes between police and students and jobseekers, who were demanding reforms to the existing quota scheme in government jobs, on DU campus and in adjacent areas.
DU Senior Security Officer SM Kamrul Ahsan had filed the case at Shahbagh police station the following day.
