Dhaka University Teachers Association has condemned and demanded immediate disciplinary measures against those who were involved in the attack on Vice Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzman's house.
DUTA president Prof ASM Masud Kamal made the statement at a press conference in Dhaka University Club on Monday.
He said: "We called for an emergency meeting at 4pm (today) to discuss the matter. We will also form a human chain at Aparajeyo Bangla at 11am on Tuesday."
DUTA Secretary Shibly Rubaetul Islam said: "The attack on VC's house was planned.
"The attackers put on masks and attacked the house with the motive of killing the family of the vice chancellor."
He said students were stating protest at Shahbagh demanding reformation of quota system, but the attackers entered the house and vandalized it.
More than 50 people were injured in violent clashes between police and students of various universities and job seekers at Shahbagh and Dhaka University (DU) areas on Sunday.
The demonstrators have been demanding reforms in the existing quota system in government recruitment tests.
