Managing Director (MD) of Ha-Meem Group AK Azad has sought time from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to appeal before it for interrogation.
He made the request in a letter sent to the commission on Tuesday, seeking more time to appear before it for interrogation.
AK Azad is a former president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and is also the owner of two media outlets - Dainik Samakal and the Channel 24 television station - in Bangladesh.
ACC was scheduled to interrogate Azad on Tuesday (today) for allegedly acquiring illegal property, commission's Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar said.
On March 21, ACC Director Jainul Abedin issued a letter to Azad, asking him to appeal before it.
On March 20, Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) demolished Azad's house in Dhaka.
Later, he issued a press statement saying Rajuk started demolishing his house in Road 86, Gulshan, even after they were shown legal documents of his ownership. This article was first published on banglatribune.com
