Le Méridien Dhaka arranged a day-long event focused on women’s empowerment, titled ‘Le Méridien Dhaka Presents Colours of Women’, in collaboration with ColoursFM 101.6, on March 31. The theme was “Women Empowering Women”.
Twenty-four artists from around the country came together to improve the lives of 18 struggling women through their art.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Bangladesh, Rina P Soemarno attended the event as chief guest.
Special guests of the event were- Sara Zaker, executive vice-chairperson of Asiatic 360, Farah Kabir, country director of ActionAid International, and Geeteara Safiya Choudhury, chairperson of ColoursFM 101.6.
A Live Art session by renowned artists like Kanak Chapa Chakma, Kuhu Plamondon, Naima Haque, Fareha Zeba, Bipasha Hayat, and many others was organized and the paintings were sold to raise funds for struggling women.
An intriguing panel discussion followed the Live Art session. The panelists were: Tasaffy Hossain, founder of Bonhishikha - Unlearn Gender, Zareen Mahmud Hossein, founder of HerStory Foundation, Nooruddin Chowdhury, Country Manager of DHL Global Forwarding Bangladesh and Aftab Mahmud Khurshid, the chief marketing officer of Bengal Group. The panel discussion was moderated by Asna Towfiq, a consultant of United Nations Foundation.
“We believe this event will be another signature effort of our commitment towards this global issue,” the management of Le Méridien Dhaka stated.
