The Cabinet Committee on Public Purchase has approved contracts under three projects of Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) involving Tk906 crore for improvement of the capital city's water and sewerage system.
The committee approved the proposals to award contracts at a meeting, with Finance Minister AMA Muhith in the chair, on Wednesday.
Briefing about the meeting outcomes, Cabinet Division Additional Secretary Mustafizur Rahman said the committee approved a proposal of the Dhaka WASA to appoint a consultant at a cost of Tk67.76 crore for design, management and supervision works of the water supply improvement project.
The committee gave nod to tender proposal of WASA to award Tk448.90 crore contract to Joint Venture of Navana and Protiva Limited for the water supply network improvement work under WASA MODS (management, operations, distribution, and services) Zones 3, 4 and 10.
Another contract of Tk389.28 crore for similar works of water supply network improvement under MODS Zone 9 was awarded to China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau.
The committee also approved a proposal of the Industries Ministry to import 25,000 metric tons of urea fertilizer at a cost of Tk72.76 crore while each metric ton of fertilizer will cost at $349.20. Business firm M/s Hydro Carbon won the contract.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday approved a proposal to award the contract of 505 acres of land at Mirsarai Economic Zone under direct procurement method.
It also approved another proposal to award contracts for event management job under direct procurement method to celebrate Bangladesh's up-gradation from least developed country (LDC) status, which the government plans to celebrate on March 22-23 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre and Radisson Blue Hotel in the city.
