Five lawyers have met with BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia inside old Dhaka Central Jail.
The lawyers – Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, Barrister Khandker Mahbub Hossain, Md Ali and Barrister Abdur Razzak — met with Khaleda on Saturday around 4:26pm.
Earlier in the day, they submitted an application to the jail authorities, seeking permission to meet with the BNP chief.

The authorities on Friday did not allow Khaleda’s lawyers to meet with her, but the relatives were allowed.
On Thursday, Judge Dr Akhtaruzzaman of Dhaka’s Fifth Special Judge Court sentenced Khaleda to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
The same court also sentenced five other accused, including her son and BNP’s acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, to 10 years’ imprisonment each and fined them Tk2.10 crore each.

The 73-year old former prime minister of Bangladesh, Khaleda claimed that the case filed against her was a “politically motivated” one, and she denied misusing international funds donated to the charitable trust.
Meanwhile, her lawyers are taking preparations to file an appeal with the High Court, challenging the lower court’s verdict.
