Chhatra League suspends three DU unit leaders over assaulting student
Bangladesh Chhatra League has suspended three leaders of its Dhaka University unit on charges of physically assaulting a second-year student. The three are the ruling student front’s DU Salimullah Muslim Hall unit Deputy Secretary of Training Affairs Mehedi Hasan Himel, assistant secretaries Omar Faruk and Ruhul Amin.

Chhatra League leaders brutally beat up Ehsan Rafiq, a second-year disaster science and management student, branding him a Shibir activist after he requested Faruk on Tuesday to return his calculator the latter had borrowed three months ago. A media statement, signed by the student front’s President Saifur Rahman Sohag and General Secretary ‎SM Jakir Hossain on Wednesday, said the three had been suspended for breaching discipline. Meanwhile, authorities of Salimullah Muslim Hall have formed a three-member probe body to investigate the matter, House Tutor of the hall Dr Shabbir Ahmad told the Dhaka Tribune. Dr Shabbir will head the committee. He said: "A probe report will be submitted regarding the matter within seven working days.
