After over an hour of unwavering efforts, firefighters doused the fire that broke out at a slum in city’s East Tejturi Bazar area on Monday, reports UNB.
Fire Service and Civil Defence Duty Officer Russel said nine firefighting units rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control around 1:20pm.
The fire broke out at the slum behind the railway market in the area around 12pm.
The cause of the blaze and the extent of losses could not be ascertained immediately, the official added.
