Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim on Saturday said the world’s largest burn and plastic surgery institute will be inaugurated in Dhaka in September 2018.
“The Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute will have the best treatment facilities for burn patients. The Bangladesh Army is working to construct the 500-bed hospital at great haste” the health minister said.
Minister Nasim made the remarks after visiting the construction site at Chankharpool.
He expressed his hope that thousands of burn victims will receive advanced treatment in the hospital upon completion.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the construction work on April 6, 2016, by laying the foundation stone of the institute.
The 12-storey building is being built on three blocks including a Burn block, Plastic block and academic block.
Lt Col Shakil briefed the minister about the progress of the construction work.
The minister was accompanied by Health Secretary (Health Services Division) M Serajul Huq Khan, Health Secretary (Health education) Foyez Ahmed, Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) Director Brigadier General AKM Nasiruddin, DMCH Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit Coordinator Dr Samanta Lal Sen and Project Director Prof Dr Abul Kalam.
