Cleaners employed by Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) had worked an extra hour on Sunday morning to show respect to late mayor Annisul Huq.
The cleaners are seen working till 12pm on Sunday. They work from 5am to 11am on regular days.
One clear, sweeping a Dhaka road, told the the Dhaka Tribune: “Annisul Huq's death is a great loss for us, the city dwellers and the countrymen.”
They said Annisul Huq was a great, sincere and honest mayor, and they doubt that they would get such a mayor or leadership in future.
According to the DNCC's public relations department, the corporation will keep open Annisul's office on Monday for visitors to pay respect.
