Sophia, the world's first artificially intelligent humanoid robot from Hanson Robotics, has expressed her gratitude for the invitation that the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division of Bangladesh sent her to join this year's Digital World expo in Dhaka – by saying “Dhonnobad,” the Bangla for “Thank you.”
In a video message sent prior to her visit, Sophia said: "Hello Bangladesh, I'm Sophia – the world's first artificially intelligent robot from Hanson Robotics. I am excited to let you know that me and Dr David Hanson will participate in this year's Digital World 2017 in Dhaka. I cannot wait to be a part of this great event. Thank you to [the] ICT Division Bangladesh government and Islami Bank Bangladesh [sic] to create this opportunity for us. Hope to see you all there. Dhonnobad,” said a press release issued by the ICT Division on Thursday.
Sophia, who is also the first robot to have gained citizenship of any country – Saudi Arabia granted her citizenship in October
– will meet Bangladeshi people on the first day of Digital World 2017 on December 6 at 2:30pm-4pm at Banganandhu International Conference Centre.
The four-day expo will start on December 6 and conclude on December 9.
