8 of a family burnt in Dhaka gas line blast
Eight members of a family have sustained burn injuries in a gas line explosion at a house in Demra’s Konapara area in Dhaka. The injured are Arif, 35, Ratna Begum, 18, Shipon, 7, rimon, 18, Ferdousi, 35, Tofazzal, 22, Tasim, 2, and Alamgir, 40. Fire Service Control Room duty officer Rasel Sikder said: “The explosion took place from a gas line leakage at the kitchen on the second floor of the three-storey building early Monday.” Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost In-Charge Bachchu Miah said the injured have been admitted to the hospital around 4am. Alamgir’s brother Joynal told the Dhaka Tribune: “My brother moved to this house with his family two months back. “He had been complaining about the gas leak for a while now. He was supposed to talk to the house owner.” He said: “The neighbours informed me that a wall collapsed after the blast.” However, firefighters are yet to confirm the matter.
