Muktamoni, an 11-year-old girl who has been suffering from a rare disease that resulted in a malignant growth on her right arm, has been cured after a series of medical operations at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
“Look at my hand! It is fixed now,” Muktamoni said with a lively smile, upon seeing new visitors to her cabin. Her arm seemed to have healed completely as the bandages have been taken off.
DMCH Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit Coordinator Dr Samanta Lal Sen and Dr Khan Abul Kalam Azad visited her on Sunday.
Dr Azad said: “We transplanted skin on her wounds on Tuesday and continued dressing the bandages till Saturday. Then we decided to take off the bandage to examine her progress.”
Over four kilos of malignant growth have been removed from her arm during the operations. She is happy to have recovered after suffering from the disease over the last few years.
