Dhaka Regency Hotel & Resort has appointed an autistic teenager as a kitchen helper in the main kitchen of the hotel.
The appointee is 19-year-old Mohammad Obaydullah Niloy.
Niloy has recently completed the beginner’s one-year course of the Level One Cookery programme organised by the International Labor Organization (ILO) B-SEP Project at the UCEP Training Centre.
Following the program completion, Dhaka Regency offered to integrate Niloy into its F&B Production Team in the main kitchen as a Kitchen Helper.
Upon effectively completing the probationary period of this assimilation, Niloy was offered permanent employment for the post.
“Niloy shows great enthusiasm in his work and faces up to any challenge with a wonderful determination that his team can only appreciate and admire,” said Ahmed Hossain, Director F&B Department for the hotel.
Executive Director of Dhaka Regency, Shahid Hamid FIH said: “We’re happy to have him onboard and look forward to watching him progressing in the hospitality industry.”
