Seedstars seeking most prominent start-ups
Seedstars Dhaka, part of Seedstars World, a global seed-stage start-up competition for emerging markets and rapidly growing scenes has been unveiled at a press conference held on Wednesday at Janata Tower, Karwan Bazar. Eight of Bangladesh’s best start-ups will compete in a pitching event powered by Grameenphone (GP) Accelerator at the Seedstars Regional and Global Summits and win up to $1 million in equity investments. The pitching event will be held on September 23 at the GP House in Bashundhara Residential Area. In line with its mission to place the spotlight on entrepreneurs from emerging markets, Seedstars World is traveling to more than 75 countries this year to identify the best entrepreneurs and provide them with an opportunity to win $1 million and network with investors and mentors from around the world. “Seedstars World is a platform connecting investors to the next generation of entrepreneurs, pulling the spotlight from Silicon Valley and Western Europe. We have continuously seen innovative start-ups who do just that coming out of Bangladesh. We are excited to be coming back to see what the ecosystem has to offer this year,” explained Asia Regional Associate, Seedstars World, Adriana Collini. Previous participants have raised over $61 million collectively, providing employment to more than 900 employees worldwide. GP Head of Transformation, Kazi Mahboob Hassan said: “GP Accelerator is excited to host Seedstars Dhaka 2017. Bangladesh has recently seen the rise of highly talented entrepreneurs with  game-changing ideas. We are hopeful that one of the start-ups from Bangladesh will win the competition this time.”
