Jay Erstling, a renowned international intellectual property expert, will be visiting Dhaka on September 14-19 after being invited by the Bangladesh Intellectual Property Forum (BIPF).
During the five-day visit, Erstling will be attending two high level seminars where he will be discussing keynote papers and talk about how intellectual property can be used in sustainable economical growth in Bangladesh.
Erstling is an Intellectual Property Counsel at the Patterson Thuente law firm based in Minnesota, US.
The first seminar will be held at the Prime Minister’s Office jointly organised by the Bangladesh Intellectual Property Forum (BIPF) and Access to Information (a2i) Program of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The other seminar will be held on September 18 at the Information and Communication Technology Division (ICT) Division in Agargaon, Dhaka which will be jointly organised by the Bangladesh Computer Council under the ICT Ministry and Bangladesh IP Forum.
High officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, ICT Ministry, and other ministries and of different private organisations will be attending the seminars.
Erstling played a significant role in reforming the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) Policy, expansion and modernisation of the PCT management system. Besides, he played an important role in the development of Intellectual Property infrastructure in many countries including China, Cyprus, India, Lithuania, Nigeria and Sri Lanka.
