Islamic scholars of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, who arrived in Dhaka on Thursday to attend the 42nd anniversary of Bangladesh Islamic Foundation, have been awarded the Dhaka Key by Dhaka South City Corporation.
DSCC Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon gave the key to the city at the inauguration of the Ahle Hadees Bangladesh Jamiat at Jatrabari in Dhaka on Saturday.
The mayor specifically presented the Dhaka Key to Dr Mohammad Bin Nasser Bin Mohammad Al Khuzaim, the vice-president of the Holy Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque and Abdulmehsin bin Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Qasim, imam and oreacher of the Prophet’s Mosque.
“The relationship between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia has existed for a long time. The current relationship between the governments of the two countries is at its strongest than in any other time and will continue in the future,” Sayeed Khokon said.
As an elected Dhaka mayor, he ensured that Dhaka would always stand beside the holy city of Mecca and offer Saudi Arabia support against terror.
On receiving the honour, the scholars thanked the mayor. They also said a Muslim cannot kill another Muslim or any non-Muslim and added that the killing of innocent people is a terrible sin in Islam.
