A 10-year-old madrasa student was killed when a brick from a building in Kathpotti area of Kamrangirchar, Dhaka fell on his head.
The victim's father Amir Ali filed an unnatural death case with Kamrangirchar police on Friday afternoon against the owner of the building, OC Shaheen Fakir told the Dhaka Tribune.
The building owner has been accused of negligence as construction work was being conducted on the fifth floor of his building without placing safety jute curtains.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon.
Amir Ali is a security guard at a local market. The victim, Shamim, is his oldest son and a student of Ashraf Uloom Madrasa in Kamrangirchar.
The OC said the filing of the case was delayed since the building owner and locals had tried to settle the matter with Amir Ali.
