Guthrie, whose expressive playing has asserted him as one of the most technically sound guitarists active today, will be in Dhaka for a two-day stint.
The guitar virtuoso will be accompanied by the talented Mohini Dey on the bass and Gino Banks on the drums. On February 26, they will perform at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh and hold the guitar clinic at Gulshan Shooting Club the following day.
The concert is set to open with Quanta – a progressive rock band – supported by Wasiun Khan (Eclipse), Samir Hafiz (Powersurge), Iqbal Asif Jewel (X-Factor and Miles), Raef Al Hasan Rafa (X-Factor, Aurthohin, Cryptic Fate, AvoidRafa) and Ershad Zaman (Artcell) performing the same night.
Guthrie has garnered critical acclaim from fellow musicians, performing alongside Joe Satriani and Steve Vai in the G3 2016 tour, touring with Hans Zimmer in 2016, and playing on two albums by progressive rock herald Steven Wilson (Porcupine Tree).
He often plays with The Aristocrats with bassist Bryan Beller and drummer Marco Minnemann. His solo album “Erotic Cakes” received rave reviews from critics. In his stellar career, he has also played for supergroup Asia.
His companions are no slouch either. Mohini Dey, hailed as a child prodigy, made the guitar her beau at the age of three. At 20 years of age, she has immersed herself in music and performs regularly with India’s finest composer AR Rahman.
Gino Banks is considered to be one of the most versatile drummers in India. Son of Indian jazz musician Louis Banks, he transitions flawlessly from jazz to rock to funk and blues.

The Rock Project is a premier international school chain for children's contemporary music tuition. Established in 2005, the internationally franchised network has expanded to 50+ Rock Project schools across the UK, Ireland, Scotland, and Bangladesh. Lessons are offered for the electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and vocals, and the opportunity extended for young people aged 7-18 years to put their musical skills into practice by performing regularly each week as part of a band.
Students are actively encouraged to form bands (much like Jack Black’s School of Rock) and perform annually at showcase concerts. In addition, graded exams are taken based on the syllabus assigned by Rockschool. Graduates of The Rock Project are able to pursue higher music studies with accredited certifications.
The Rock Project Dhaka will be officially commencing in 2017. Enrolment begins in May for June sessions. The junior session is for children aged 7-11, and the senior session is for those between 12-18 years. There are plans for further expansion in other major cities in Bangladesh.
