Out of the 31 architectural firms who participated, Deshar Works and Lines Architects were both declared winners of the competition. Deshar Works won for best planner and Lines Architects for best designer of the road development project.
“The DSCC has asked the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) for their aid with the road development project. So IAB planned to arrange a competition among the country’s young, promising architects,” said DSCC Mayor Sayeed Khokon.
After the competition, the mayor announced the winners and handed over the prize money cheque of Tk3.5lakh, to be shared among them.
Sayeed said the road development work would hopefully begin within three to four months and that the tender for the project would be floated soon.
The project will be an experiment to reduce waterlogging and improve the city’s roads, he added.
