The National Dairy Development Forum has been formally launched on Wednesday in Dhaka, through the formation of a 13 member executive committee.
Established in May 2016 through an initiative of Oxfam Bangladesh, the forum works as an advocacy platform with a view to mitigate the challenges and gaps embedded in the dairy sector in Bangladesh. The seminar was patronized by the Department for International Development (DFID).
Member of Parliament Advocate Umme Kulsum Srity has been nominated as president, while Director of Brac Dairy and Food, Mohammad Anisur Rahman was nominated general secretary.
The executive and advisory committees have been formed during a meeting held in Oxfam’s Bangladesh Office in Dhaka recently.
Members of the executive committee are Vice President Uzma Chowdhury, Director (Corporate Finance) of Pran-RFL Group, Dr Quazi M Emdadul Huque, Former Director General of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute and ED Lal Teer Livestock Limited, Joint Secretary Dr KBM Saiful Islam, Chairman and Associate Professor and Treasurer of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Sheikh Ali Ahmed, Research Consultant of Human Development Research Centre and Organizing Secretary Dr Khalid Hossain, Program Manager of Oxfam in Bangladesh.
The committee also includes Director of CARE Bangladesh, Anowarul Haq, Senior Dairy Consultant, Jahid Hossain, Milk Vita Deputy General Manager, Mostafizur Rahman, CCAC Assistant Project Director, Department of Livestock Services, Dr Golam Rabbani, Chief of Dairy, PRAN Dairy Ltd Dr Rakibur Rahman, and SR Dairy Entrepreneur, Mushfiqur Rahman Dipu.
The advisory committee consists of Department of Economics, University of Dhaka Prof Abul Barkat, Pro Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Prof Md Sekender Ali, Bangladesh Bank Traning Academy General Manager, Mostafizur Rahman, Bangladesh Krishi Bank General Manager, Dr Md Liakat Hossain Moral, FBCCI Director, Abu Naser, Director,Bangladesh SME Corporation Ltd, Azad Chowdhury and Principal Scientific Officer of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute, Dr Nathuram Sarker.
