A tri-nation consortium on Thursday signed a contract with Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) to develop Jhilmil Residential Park inside the Jhilmil Apartment Project under Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
Rajuk has been implementing the Jhilmil housing project on 154.229745 hectare of land in Keraniganj near Burigonga river where it planned to develop residential plots and also apartments for lower and middle income groups.
As per the deal, the tri-nation consortium comprising BNG Global SDN of Malaysia, Jianxi Construction Engineering Ltd of China and Multiplex Holdings Limited of Bangladesh will build the park on about 64.74 hectares of land at a cost of Tk8,000cr under Rajuk.
Speaking at the contract signing ceremony at a city hotel, Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, this project would be the very first model of Industrialised Building System; as planned by the government to provide low-cost housing for lower and middle income people.
About the price of the proposed apartment in the Jhilmil Residential Park, he the minister said the government will offer the flats at a most affordable price only at Tk4,500 per square-foot.
BNG Global Holding and it's consortium partners Multiplex Holdings Ltd. and Jiangxi Consortium Engineering (Group) Co Ltd will introduce the IBS technique for the construction of a total of 85 multi-storey high-rise buildings of them 60 buildings are of 20-storey and 25 are of 25-storey.
Project Director Abdul Latif Helaly made a power-point presentation on the project while Rajuk Chairman Md Abdur Rahman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the PPP Authority Syed Afsor H Uddin also addressed the ceremony.
Addressing the signing ceremony, the Rajuk Chairman said that the total project will be completed within only 4 years starting from January 2018.
There will be a total of 13,832 apartments in the project which will also include mosque, gymnasium, community centers and other modern civic amenities.
Rajuk invited a competitive international proposal for the 'Jhilmil Residential Park' early in January this year and the participants submitted their proposals on March 22. Later the work order was given to the tri-nation consortium in October.
