Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said the government is planning to organise an Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) conference from March 29 to April 5 in Dhaka to highlight Bangladesh’s progress to the world.
The minister talked about the IPU event at a meeting with several lawmakers at the Ministry of Commerce auditorium on Thursday, held to evaluate the preparatory stages of the conference.
Tofail told the reporters a total of 1600 representatives from different countries were expected to participate in the event, which will be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
Grey Advertising Bangladesh Ltd quoted a Tk3cr plan for managing the event. The minister however called the plan wanting, saying more private firms might be hired to manage the international conference. The budget for the event could also be raised to Tk30cr, he added.
