The decision was made based on allegations that Shithil had been involved in unprofessional conduct during an investigation
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has withdrawn Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Md Golam Saklain Shithil from the Gulshan Division of Detective Branch (DB) on the basis of allegations of unprofessional conduct with actor Pori Moni during an investigation.
He has been restricted from all activities of DB and attached to the DMP's Public Order Management (POM) West Division, confirmed DMP ADC (media and public relations) Iftekharul Islam on Saturday afternoon.
DMP DB chief Additional Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akter said that DMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam had ordered the removal.
“Saklain is now on leave. We will investigate the allegation of unprofessional conduct after forming a probe body,” he added.
Several media reported that Shithil had been involved in unprofessional conduct with Pori Moni while supervising a case filed by the actress on June 13 against five persons, including businessman Nasir U Mahmud, former president of Uttara Club.
Shithil, however, refuted the allegations while talking to the media.
Earlier, Pori Moni had levelled rape allegations against businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmud at the Dhaka Boat Club on June 13.
The next day, Mahmud was arrested from his Uttara residence.
On Friday, several media outlets reported that Pori Moni, who was recently arrested on charges of possession of drugs, had been to Shithil's government quarters in Dhaka's Rajarbagh on August 1.
A CCTV video making rounds on social media shows Pori Moni and Shithil getting out of a car together. Shithil was seen going inside the lift with her, carrying a trolley bag. Another clip showed the duo leaving the building at midnight with the same trolley bag.

After the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) filed a case against Pori Moni under the Narcotics Control Act with Banani police station on Thursday, the DB was assigned to run the investigation on Friday.
However, hours later, the case was transferred to the CID, which will now interrogate the actor.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Omar Faruq, additional DIG of CID's Dhaka metro unit, on Saturday said: "If anyone's involvement is found while conducting the investigation, they will not be let off, no matter how powerful they are."
If any political or influential person was involved in such cases, they would be brought to justice, he added.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Cholochitro Shilpi Samiti President Misha Saudagar, at a press conference, said that the Samiti would not intervene in anyone’s personal issue until it was related to the film industry.
However, he said that the executive body of the organization had decided to suspend Pori Moni’s membership as recent incidents involving her had tarnished the image of artistes.
