Security guards have foiled an attempt to rob a Rupali Bank Limited branch in Gabtali upazila of Bogra.
The criminals, disguised under personal protective equipments (PPEs), stabbed and hurled corrosive substance at two security guards in order to escape after their failed attempt.
The incident took place at Rupali Bank's Sabekpara branch in Gabtali upazila on Tuesday morning.
Two injured security guards Masud Rana and Habibur Rahman have been admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra.
Gabtali police station Office-in-Charge (OC) Nuruzzaman Raju confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune Motahar Hossain, manager of Rupali Bank's Sabekpara branch, said the masked robbers first broke into the bank through the roof door around 5:30am.
Spotting the bank robbers, two Ansar members, guarding the bank, proceeded to resist their entry.
Habibur was injured when the robbers hurled acid and Masud Rana was stabbed at that time.
Injured Masud managed to injure one of the robbers, snatching a knife off of them, before the gang fled the scene.
Locals later rescued the injured Ansar members and admitted them to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
Gabtali police OC Nuruzzaman Raju said a case is being filed in this regard.
