Basher was killed over a dispute regarding his business
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested one of the men suspected to be involved with the murder of contractor Abul Basher Talukder.
The arrestee, Shafiqul Islam Shafique, 25, is a sand and brick supplier in Dhaka's Khilgaon area.
He was arrested from Khilgaon rail gate area at around 8pm on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, RAB conducted a raid and arrested Shafiqul and also seized the machete used to hack Basher.
During primary interrogation, Shafiqul admitted to being involved in the murder, RAB said.
Later he was handed over to Khilgaon police.
RAB is trying to arrest the rest of the men involved in the murder.
In a press statement, RAB said Bashar was murdered over a dispute regarding his business.
Basher, 32, was hacked to death in Goran's Madani Jheellpar area in Khilgaon on Wednesday night.
The deceased’s brother Ujjal Talukder filed a case regarding the murder.
RAB also said there were several groups in Khilgaon area who always fight with each other over illegal sand, brick and narcotics trade.
