Police have recovered the body of a youth from Amtoli of Mohakhali on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Rahmatullah alias Shipu, 20, from the Hazipara Wireless neighbourhood of Mohakhali.
Informed over the phone, police rushed to the spot around 9:05pm and found Shipu lying on the street, said Sub Inspector (SI) Habibur Rahman of Banani police station.
The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where duty doctors declared him dead, he said, adding that multiple injury marks were on his body.
“It seems that he was beaten and stabbed to death,” said the OC.
Ali Asgar Khan, maternal uncle of deceased Shipu, said: “My nephew had a grocery shop in the area, and was also a Bkash agent. On Friday night, he offered Friday prayers with his father at a nearby mosque.”
Police named one Anonto as the suspected killer, said Banani Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nur E Azam Mia.
“Drives are on to arrest the suspect,” he added.
