Sarwar Ali and his family members were attacked in their house

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has arrested one person in connection to the attack on Dr Sarwar Ali, Trustee of Liberation War Museum.

Confirming the matter, PBI Dhaka Metro (North)'s SP Rezaul Masud said details will be disclosed in a press briefing around 3pm on Monday.

On January 5, two assailants reportedly tried to murder Liberation War Museum trustee Dr Sarwar Ali and his family at his Uttara residence in Dhaka.

Sarwar Ali and his family members suspect that the attack was planned and carried out by a militant group, as they did not rob any money or valuables.

Sarwar has always been vocal against anti-liberation forces, but whether that was the main reason for the attack is not verified yet.

A case was filed with Uttara West police station on January 6 against one of their chauffer Nazmul, security guard Hasan, and three other unnamed accused.

Uttara West police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tapan Chandra Saha said police detained the building’s security guard Hasan, and driver Hafiz, in connection with the attack.

Police produced the two in court seeking a seven day remand, but the court only granted a two day remand for questioning.
