He confessed to police that he was engaged in anti-state conspiracies

Police arrested a suspected member of banned militant outfit New Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh, (New JMB), from Dhaka’s Gulshan area.

Acting on a tip-off, members of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s (DMP) Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit arrested Shahin alias Abu Bakkar Siddique alias Musna, 24, of Madaripur district from Dhaka’s Gulshan area on Saturday, a CTTC press release said.

The arrestee confessed to police that he and his aides through a Facebook group and page used to carry out anti-state conspiracies. They used to plan and train (members), and collect bombs for killing and creating panic among people and endanger public security, the press release read.

“They were also engaged in spreading aggressive doctrine, using social media and different secured apps,” the press release added.

A case was filed against him in 2015, with Tejgaon police station for the same allegation.
