Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun passed the order on Tuesday

A Dhaka Court has placed five people on a five-day remand each, in connection with the case filed for the murder of an elderly woman and her maid in a flat in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi.

Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun passed the order on Tuesday.

Detective branch inspector Md Robiul Islam, also investigation officer of the case produced the five accused before the court seeking a 10-day remand for each of the arrestees.

The remanded are housemaid Shurovi Akhter Nahida, guard Nuruzzaman, cleaner Gausul Azam Prince, personal staff Md Atikul Haque Bacchu, and Belayet Hossain.

Opposing the remand plea, defence lawyers submitted separate bail petitions for the five accused but the court rejected it after hearing.

On Friday, Afroza Begum, a garment industrialist, and her domestic help, Diti Akter, were killed in Afroza’s flat.

On Sunday, the deceased's daughter Advocate Dilruba Sultana Ruba filed a case with Dhanmondi police station against unnamed individuals in connection with the murders.
