Zakir was a resident of Dhaka and went into hiding after Samrat’s arrest
The detained, Zakir Hossain, 45, was Samrat’s business partner.
RAB also recovered a pistol, four rounds of bullet, four bottles of liquor, two mobile phones, and Tk1,160 from the scene.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhola model police station, Enayet Hossain, told the Dhaka Tribune: “Acting on a tipoff, RAB-8 conducted a drive in the area and arrested Zakir when he was trying to flee the area.”
Zakir, fromShantinagar, Dhaka, was in hiding for 10 days at his grandfather-in-law’s house after Samrat’s arrest, the OC added.
RAB has filed two separate cases with Bhola model police station in this connection, one under the Arms Act 1878 and the other under Narcotics Control Act 1990.
Arrest of casino kingpin Samrat
RAB arrested Samrat and his accomplice Arman from Comilla’sChauddagramupazila on October 6.
A mobile court, led by RAB Executive Magistrate SarwarAlam, sentenced Samrat to six months in prison under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2012, after they recovered two kangaroo hides from his Kakrail office.
He was then sent to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
